I recently had the opportunity to go to a very special retreat in Tanzania. Located in Zanzibar, Tanzania, Xanadu Villas was everything I was expecting and more.
Although Xanadu Villas wasn’t on my list initially, it has been a beautiful awakening during my trip to Zanzibar.
Getting To Know Xanadu Villas In Detail
We all need to find some time to recover our energy and get rid of stress. Well, this time, I decided it was time to visit a country I knew nothing about – Tanzania. But more than just a country, I had to find a place where I could rest and just get out of my routines. Xanadu Villas was my choice.
Simply put, Xanadu Villas had everything I was looking for: beautiful and peaceful surroundings, a great spa, and marvellous food. But more than this, they truly offer a personalised experience to every guest. Just to give you an example, I was welcomed by the staff and personal butler every single day with a glass of champagne. Not only I felt cheered up in here as I was always looking forward to return every time I went out on a journey outside of the resort.
The Villas
One of the things that I always look for when traveling is where I’ll stay. At Xanadu Villas, you have 8 different villas around the pool area. As you can imagine, I stayed in one of them and my days couldn’t be better spent. The environment is so peaceful that you don’t want to leave the compound.
All villas have their own private pool and lounge area not to mention that they can also benefit from the private beach, where you can eat, swim, or even take a nap.
The Luxury Spa
If there is something that I love in this life is being pampered. And Xanadu Villas was such a great option.
One of the things that I simply loved was the fact that my spa treatments were all made right on the beach. Now, can you imagine relaxing with a great body massage, a facial, and having this astonishing view right in front of you?! I can honestly tell you that I won’t ever forget. Besides, I could try out new products since the spa only uses the world-famous Africology range, which are supplemented by organic and locally produced products.
The Peaceful Surroundings
While the main goal of this retreat was to relax and get away from all my routines, I didn’t stay in my villa or the spa all the time. I took the time to also take a look at the surroundings.
My first visit was to the beach of course. Just laying there in the sun and enjoying a delicious fresh coconut was really something. But as you know, I just can’t keep quiet at all. So, I headed into Stone Town to meet the locals. And wow, what friendly people they are!
I also had the pleasure to visit the famous Page beach which is mostly known for kite surfing. But what I found extremely curious is that at the end of each day, you can actually see a group of cows passing by over this idilic beach.
But I didn’t stop there. I was so in love by the peaceful surroundings that I also made another trip to Cheetah’s Rock. That was quite an experience, that deserves a story on it’s own.
The Food
And what can I say about the food?! I really don’t have enough words to express how delicious it was.
One of the things I loved was that I had the ability to eat at their restaurant or in my villa if I was into more privacy. I have to say that I tried both, including having dinner under the giant Makuti roof. Simply enjoying the delicious and unique food with a great temperature and environment, what more could I ask? During my stay, I had the opportunity to enjoy a personalised 6 course meal that was absolutely mouth-watering.
Even if you have any dietary requirements you can ask the cuisine to meet them without any problems. They will do everything in their power to get exactly what you want.
As you know, I’m a big fan of eating healthy. So, when I discovered that all the dishes are prepared using the freshest, sustainably sourced, and organic ingredients that are grown at Xanadu’s farm, I was really looking forward to trying out the different dishes available on the menu. I have to say that I tried several and that I loved each one. I can’t really pick a favourite one.
